The Abstract Nine

Nobody remembers when baseball started making sense.

At some point, someone decided there were nine players, straight lines, clear rules, and one correct way to play the game. That version stuck. But it wasn’t the only one.

The Abstract Nine is about the other version—the one that lives underneath the surface.

The version where the field bends depending on how you see it. Where a swing can look wild, wrong, or broken… until the ball lands exactly where it wasn’t supposed to. Where a shortstop isn’t just a shortstop, but also a shape, an angle, a reaction.

They say Picasso once tore faces apart to show the truth hiding underneath. Baseball does the same thing. The game looks clean from the stands, but down on the dirt it’s chaos—hands, feet, eyes, instincts—all happening at once.

That’s the Abstract Nine.

Nine players. Nine perspectives. No single right angle. No perfect form. Just motion, rhythm, and confidence stitched together into something that works even when it shouldn’t.

BC 2.0 doesn’t play the game as a diagram.

It plays it as a feeling.

You don’t think your way through it.

You don’t draw it first.

You swing, you react, and you trust that broken lines can still make something beautiful.

Abstract?

Maybe.

But it still rakes.
