The Legend of the Nothing, Arizona Nobodies

Built from Nothing. Literally.

Nothing, Arizona isn’t just a dot on a map — it’s barely a smudge. Population? Four tumbleweeds, a suspicious goat, and a gas station that ran out of gas in 1987.

Back in ’52, a small crew of baseball-obsessed misfits called the place home. They had:

  • Zero money

  • Zero talent

  • Zero wins

  • …and a whole lot of time, since nobody had a job worth showing up to.

They called themselves the Nobodies because every time they introduced themselves, folks said,
“Who?”
and they figured it was easier to just roll with it.

Their first “field” was a patch of asphalt behind the only diner in town, where the infield dirt was actually gravel, and sliding into second base meant sliding into the ER. Their dugout? A shade tree that only provided shade for people six inches tall.

Their equipment was even worse:

Coach? They didn’t exactly have one.
A guy named Hank once stumbled across practice, holding a burrito and saying he’d seen baseball “on the TV once,” so they just gave him the job.

The Nobodies lost their first 82 games by an average score of Who even keeps score at this point? But on Game 83, something magical happened:
They accidentally won — the other team’s bus broke down before first pitch.

It counted. 📜⚾️

From that day on, they decided they were playing for every kid who was told they weren’t good enough…
…and every adult who still wasn’t.

Because in Nothing, Arizona — being a Nobody means you don’t have to impress Anybody.

They kept the same motto from Day One:

“Built from Nothing.”
Because it’s the one thing they had plenty of.

So if you ever find yourself feeling overlooked, forgotten, or like life stuck you in right field without a glove…

Just remember the Nobodies:
born from the middle of nowhere — and still refusing to go anywhere
