The Officially Unofficial History of the Ding Dong Dingers

The town of Ding Dong, Texas got its name in one of two ways — and the locals fight about it daily:

1️⃣ Some say it’s because of the two giant bells in the center of town that ring every time someone hits a homer.
2️⃣ Everyone else says it’s because the combined IQ of the founding fathers was lower than the price of a concession-stand hot dog.

Example:
The original founders once tried to build a baseball field by mixing gravel with chili powder because they thought “spices make everything better.”
The players now have third-degree tongue burns from sliding into second.

These same geniuses also:

  • Tried to paint grass greener using guacamole

  • Installed first base where left field should be (“because it looks nicer there”)

  • Opened a “water park” that was just a leaky hose pointed at a ditch

They weren’t smart…
But boy, could they swing.

In fact, they hit so many bombs the town bells never stopped ringing. Someone yelled:

“Those boys are DINGERS!”

Someone else yelled:

“No, THEY’RE ding dongs!”

And everyone wrote down both, because spelling was optional back then.

So today, when the Ding Dong Dingers hit a moonshot:

  • The bells ring: DING!

  • The crowd screams: DONG!

  • And every player taps their helmet in honor of the brilliant idiots who started it all.

Their official motto?

“We’re dumb.
But we hit absolute DINGERS.”

And that’s why the league fears them:
no brains, all bombs.
