CLOSE ENCOUNTER AT SECOND

Nobody really knows what happened in the bottom of the eighth.

Runner broke for second. Catcher came up firing. Shortstop had the tag waiting.

Then the lights flickered.

The crowd went quiet.

Something green came down from the sky, the runner disappeared straight up, and somehow the ump still called him safe.

Official scoring?

Stolen base.

The league blamed a lighting malfunction. The government said there was no evidence of extraterrestrial activity. The kid’s mother just wanted to know if he’d be back before school on Monday.

We don’t have the answers.

We just know one thing:

The truth is out there.

And apparently, it can run.
